Ex-Aide To Mayor Adams Will Plead Guilty To Conspiracy Charge

NEW YORK CITY — A former aide to Mayor Eric Adams plans to plead guilty to a conspiracy charge in an ongoing federal corruption case against the mayor.

Mohamed Bahi, who served as City Hall’s chief liaison to the Muslim community, will plead guilty to a conspiracy charge after he allegedly conspired to commit wire fraud by collecting campaign straw donations, according to a court filing

Straw donations, are contributions made under the name of someone other than the true contributor.

Bahi had been arrested in October following the federal investigation into Adam's campaign fundraising in 2021.

The mayor faces one count of wire fraud, one count of conspiracy, two counts of solicitation of a contribution from a foreign national and one count of bribery, Patch previously reported. He has pleaded not guilty on all charges.

Prosecutors allege Adams received benefits and perks from the Turkish officials, including free and discounted airline tickets and hotel accommodations.

The perks were worth more than $100,000, prosecutors said.

Adams' corruption trial date is set for April 21, 2025.
