Feds Conduct City Contracts Probe Linked To Former Top Adams Aide
Federal agents are trying to determine how the firm secured high-profile meetings with the school chancellor.

NEW YORK CITY — Federal authorities raided the headquarters of the NYPD’s School Safety Division on Thursday as part of an investigation into city contracts.
The raids appeared to be linked to an ongoing investigation into former top aide Tim Pearson that involves contractors and a kickback scheme, the New York Post reported.
Authorities allegedly seized records at the Long Island City building related to a “panic button” app contract that Pearson oversaw and green lit, according to the report.

Saferwatch, a tech firm, sold the app for schools to use in active shooter emergencies.
The firm had been a client of Terence Banks, the brother of outgoing Schools Chancellor David Bank. Terrance is also linked to the raids.

Another official, Kevin Taylor, also had his phone taken by federal authorities.
Pearson allegedly instructed Taylor to have school safety agents install the app on their phones.
The raids were jointly carried out by the Southern District of New York and the city’s Department of Investigation.
Tim Pearson's Legal Troubles
Pearson had previously said his last day would be Oct. 4.
"I've decided to focus on family, self-care, and new endeavors," Pearson said at the time.
Pearson's home was one of those raided by federal authorities on Sept. 4 along with other Adams officials, Patch previously reported. His phone was also seized.
"Tim has had a long career in both the public and private sectors, where he has spent over 30 years keeping New Yorkers safe. We appreciate Tim’s decades of service to this city and wish him well," Adams said in a statement.
Pearson is also under investigation for an alleged brawl at a homeless migrant shelter, as he's been named in multiple lawsuits.
