Garth Brooks Plays Yankee Stadium After Hours-Long Rain Delay

The thunder rolled, just not the kind that tens of thousands of people came to see.

Garth Brooks finally took the Yankee Stadium stage at 11:50 p.m., more than three hours after rain postponed the second of his two New York City shows, the first time he has played here in nearly 20 years.

Fans have been allowed back onto the Yankee Stadium field, as it appears Garth Brooks will, indeed, play the second of his two-night New York City stint following an hours-long delay for rain and lightning.

Workers have removed protective tarps from the stage and are clearing the water.

A steady rain continues to fall, but radar shows that the threat of severe weather has largely passed.

The second night of country superstar Garth Brooks' run at Yankee Stadium has been postponed for rain, angering the tens of thousands of fans who flocked to see the Saturday show.

The concert has not officially been cancelled, but weather forecasts show continued rain for at least the next hour.

Brooks, however, seemed to indicate that the show would go on.

Upset fans took to social media to voice their displeasure.

The two weekend concerts are Brooks' first trip to New York City since 1997, when nearly one million people saw him perform in Central Park.

It's also the first country music show in Yankee Stadium history.

Books is the best-selling solo album artist in U.S. history, according to the Recording Industry Association Of America.
