ALBANY — Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and his longtime girlfriend — Food Network star Sandra Lee — announced Wednesday that they had ended their relationship.

“Over the recent past, we have realized that our lives have gone in different directions and our romantic relationship has turned into a deep friendship,” Cuomo and Lee said.

“We will always be family and are fully supportive of each other and dedicated to the girls. Our personal lives remain personal and there will be no further comment.”

Rumors that the pair split have been buzzing around since May, when Cuomo, a Democrat, and Lee put their shared Westchester mansion on the market in May.

A source close to both said that while Cuomo, 61, and Lee, 53, remain "best friends," they have been telling friends for several weeks that they were no longer a couple.
