NEW YORK CITY — Ingrid Lewis-Martin, a top aide to Mayor Eric Adams, who resigned on Sunday amid a new investigation, has been indicted on bribery charges, prosecutors announced.
Lewis-Martin is accused of taking bribes and money laundering along with her son, Glenn Martin II, and two real estate investors.
“We allege that Ingrid Lewis-Martin engaged in a long-running bribery, money laundering, and conspiracy scheme by using her position and authority as the Chief Advisor to the Mayor of the City of New York to illegally influence Department of Buildings and other city decisions in exchange for more than $100,000 in cash and benefits for herself and her son, Glenn Martin II, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg said in a statement.

Lewis-Martin and her son "traded on the access and influence of her position" in exchange for money from real estate developers Raizada Vaid and Mayank Dwivedi who own properties including the Glass Ceiling, a rooftop bar near Herald Square, and the Hotel on Rivington on the Lower East Side, according to an unsealed indictment.
Both had construction permits pending with the Department of Buildings and repeatedly contacted the mother and son duo to expedite their applications and assist with rejected applications, without regard to safety considerations or the Department of Buildings’ expertise, prosecutors said.

Lewis-Martin made attempts to cover up the alleged conspiracy by asking the participants to join Signal, a third-party encrypted messaging app.
She allegedly laundered the bribes by funneling the money through her son's accounts, according to prosecutors.
A day after, Adams was charged in Manhattan federal court, Lewis-Martin had her phone seized as she arrived at JFK Airport after returning from a trip to Japan.
