Lawsuit Looms After NY AG Rejects Trump Civil Settlement Offer: Report
A civil lawsuit by Attorney General Letitia James against Trump and his children is increasingly likely, according to a report.

NEW YORK CITY — A high-profile fraud lawsuit against former President Donald Trump is increasingly likely after New York Attorney General Letitia James rejected overtures to settle her civil probe into his company, according to a new report.
James shot down a settlement offer from Trump’s lawyers this month and is considering adding at least one of his adult children to a potential lawsuit, the New York Times first reported.
The rejection is the latest development in an already contentious civil probe focused on whether Trump fraudulently inflated the value of his assets.

Trump invoked the Fifth Amendment and refused to answer questions last month when he sat for court-ordered — and hotly contested — testimony in James’ investigation. He has claimed James' investigation is part of a "politically motivated Witch Hunt."
But James, for her part, has repeatedly said her investigation is a legitimate look into potentially shady dealings by the Trumps. She said the probe has uncovered evidence the Trump Organization used “fraudulent or misleading” valuations of assets such as golf courses and skyscrapers to get loans and tax benefits.
