NEW YORK CITY — At least five New Yorkers died in a weekend wave of stabbings and shootings, police said.

The violence included a triple stabbing that left a couple dead, another brazen Bronx knifing in broad daylight and a man fatally shot after a crash, according to cops and reports.

The triple stabbing kicked off the weekend violence Friday about 10:15 p.m., police said. It began when a man acted inappropriately to two women with another man inside a Rochambeau Avenue apartment building in The Bronx, CBS New York reported.

The argument moved upstairs and escalated, the report states. Police responded to a call of an assault about 10:15 p.m. to find a woman, 29, with a stab wound to her chest and a 33-year-old woman whose hand was slashed, authorities said.

Police then found a man, 45, with multiple stab wounds in his chest, officials said. He was pronounced dead inside the home while the 29-year-old died in St. Barnabas Hospital, authorities said.

They were a couple, CBS reported.

The bloody scene unfolded just minutes before another bout of Bronx violence, this time on the Cross Bronx Expressway.

Cops found Fausto Rodriguez, 40, shot on that road near a crash about 10:55 p.m., officials said. He was pronounced dead in St. Barnabas Hospital shortly after.

Officers later discovered that Rodriguez who was part of a nearby two-vehicle crash, police said. Two men who ran from a vehicle in that crash returned in a gray Toyota RAV4, only to get into an argument with Rodriguez, whom one of them shot, authorities said.

Cops later found the RAV4 ditched elsewhere in The Bronx, officials said.

The Bronx was also the scene of a broad daylight stabbing that left Jyleal Conner, 36, dead Saturday. Police later released photographs of two Yankee hat-wearing men who walked up to Conner about 11:35 a.m. and stabbed him multiple times near East 149th Street and Bergen Avenue, authorities said.
