Lightning Could Strike Ground As Serious Storm Imminent In NYC

Forecasters are telling people to take shelter.

NEW YORK – A serious thunderstorm expected to bring "cloud-to-ground" lightning and 40 mph winds is expected to hit parts of New York City imminently.

The National Weather Service expects it in Midtown and Harlem at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday and in The Bronx at 5:50 p.m.

"Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm," forecasters warned.
