Lincoln Tunnel Emergency Repairs Cause Traffic Delays
The fixes in the center tube are causing heavy delays, the Port Authority said.

NEW YORK, NY — Fixes to part of the Lincoln Tunnel are creating a major traffic jam out of Manhattan Thursday afternoon, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said. One lane in the tunnel's center tube is closed for emergency repairs after an oversized truck damaged parts of its ceiling around 2 p.m., a spokesman for the agency said.
Crews are still working to repair the ceiling tiles and ventilation grates that the truck scraped, the spokesman said. One lane opened around 4:30 p.m. and will largely serve bus traffic out of Port Authority Bus Terminal, he said.
Drivers can expect heavy delays of up to 45 minutes in the north tube into New Jersey, according to the Port Authority's Lincoln Tunnel Twitter account.
