Man Charged With Murder After Torso Found In Suitcase In East River
Christian Millet, 23, has been charged with second-degree murder.
NEW YORK CITY —Human remains found inside a suitcase that was floating in the East River near Governor’s Island last week has been identified, and a suspect has been arrested, police announced.
Christian Millet, 23, has been charged with second-degree murder and is accused of killing his roommate, Edwin Echevarria, 65, police said.
Echevarria's headless torso was found inside the suitcase after a passing ship noticed it in the waters on Feb. 5, Patch previously reported.

Millet allegedly stabbed Echevarria multiple times and dismembered his body, according to multiple media reports.
