Man Jumps Into 9/11 Memorial Pool, Gets Arrested: NYPD

A 33-year-old man also suffered a leg injury after during the bizarre caught-on-video incident Monday, police said.

NEW YORK CITY — A man who leapt into the 9/11 Memorial & Museum's North Pool during a bizarre caught-on-video moment Monday has been arrested, police said.

The 33-year-old man, who suffered a leg injury after he plunged into the steep reflecting pool, faces criminal mischief and trespassing charges, NYPD officials said.

Video shared on X shows the man on his stomach and staring into the second tiered pool inside the memorial, apparently after his jump.

NYPD officials told Patch they don't yet know whether the man's jump was a suicide attempt.

Police responded about 1:30 p.m. to the jumper, saved him from the pool and took him into custody, authorities said. Medics rushed him to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, officials said.
