NEW YORK CITY — A 37-year-old man shot in the head during a botched robbery of a suspected illegal gambling den in Queens has died, police announced Monday.

On Monday, the man succumbed to his injuries from the Dec. 19 incident and was pronounced dead.

The incident happened at a building on Haight Street in Flushing, Queens around 9:20 p.m., police said.

The shooting apparently happened during a robbery of a suspected illegal gambling site, Patch previously reported.

Officers who responded to the scene found the 37-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head.

The victim was initially transported to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital in critical condition. Another victim — a 42-year-old man— was also taken to the hospital. He is listed in stable condition.

Police are searching for three suspects who fled the shooting in a white SUV.

No arrests have been made, and an investigation remains ongoing.
