Man Shoved 85-Year-old Subway Rider Onto Tracks, Faces 7 Year Sentence

NEW YORK CITY — A 30-year-old man has pled guilty to charges after he shoved an 85-year-old subway rider onto the subway tracks at a Midtown train station close to two weeks ago.
Brittan Jones was charged with one count of attempted assault and faces 7 years in prison, prosecutors announced on Tuesday.

Before the incident, Jones had argued with the 85-year-old victim, who was sleeping on a bench on the platform.
"Brittan Jones is facing accountability for shoving an 85-year-old man onto the subway tracks at the Rockefeller Center station," said District Attorney Alvin Bragg. “Every New Yorker deserves to be safe in our subway system, and those who jeopardize their safety will be held accountable.”

The victim was treated at Mount Sinai West Hospital for a fracture to his right hip, prosecutors said.
Jones is expected to be sentenced on December 18.
