NEW YORK CITY — Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani bolstered his transition team to 400 people across 17 transition committees as of Monday.

The committees will cover areas like housing, transportation, government operations, immigrant justice, technology, community safety and economic development.

"A love for hard work, a deep belief in the promise of New York City, and a commitment to the affordability agenda that New Yorkers are demanding unite the more than 400 experts we have appointed to our Transition Committees today," Mamdani said. "By helping us recruit top talent and develop smart policy, these committees will be instrumental to ensuring we hit the ground running on Jan. 1 and that our results align with the promises we've made."

Appointed committee members include representatives from the Democratic Socialists of America, New York Taxi Workers Alliance, REBNY and Open New York.

Open New York Executive Director Annemarie Gray was appointed to Mamdani’s transition committee on housing and brings over a decade of experience as a housing and land use expert in City government, including as a senior advisor to two mayoral administrations.

“I am truly honored to serve on this team. As an advocate, I’ve fought the barriers to new housing that drive rents higher, year after year. That’s a status quo that New Yorkers can’t afford.” Gray said in a statement. “Our next mayor has a strong mandate from New Yorkers to do everything necessary to bring down housing costs. Building a more affordable future means creating the housing we need in every single neighborhood across all five boroughs. We must ensure robust protections for all renters, while providing a visionary agenda to build more homes and finally bring down the rent. I look forward to supporting the incoming administration as we work to make New York a city that everyone can afford.”

He has also appointed Dean Fuleihan as his first deputy mayor and Elle Bisgaard-Church as chief of staff.

Fuleihan previously served as former Mayor Bill de Blasio's first deputy mayor and has been a part of Mamdani's team since he won the primary. Bisgaard-Church has served as Mamdani's campaign adviser and chief and staff. She will hold the same title when he becomes mayor in January.
