Ice and Vice on the Lower East Side specializes in handcrafted ice cream, sorbet and frozen yogurt. Per the shop’s Facebook page, Ice and Vice creates experimental flavor profiles and reimagines the way New Yorkers experience frozen desserts.
The shop’s Detention Ice Cream Sandwich is anything but a punishment, according to Yelp reviews. The sandwich comes with malted vanilla ice cream, a Mexican chocolate brownie and Fruity Pebble dust.
Dominique Ansel Bakery
Address: 189 Spring St
Dominique Ansel rose to fame in NYC, where he was the executive pastry chef for Restaurant Daniel under celebrity chef Daniel Boulud, according to the Dominique Ansel Bakery Facebook page. Today, his eponymous bakery is the home of the original Cronut — half croissant, half doughnut.

One Girl Cookies
Address: 68 Dean St.
One Girl Cookies’ whoopie pies are one of the Cobble Hill shop’s highlights. But don’t be misled — whoopie pies aren’t pies at all; they’re more of a cross between a cake and a cookie. One Girl Cookies promises that their pies are as enjoyable for children as they are for adults.
One Girl Cookies is described as an artisanal bakery-cafe that specializes in handmade baked goods, including petite tea cookies, cupcakes, cakes and — of course — whoopie pies.
Astoria Coffee
Address: 3004 30th St.
Astoria Coffee is a self-described laid-back coffee shop, serving roasters from all over the country. On National Ice Cream Sandwich Day, New Yorkers can grab a cup of joe with this summer’s selection of ice cream sandwiches by Melt Bakery — a seasonal tradition.
