New York City's 11 Best Steakhouses Revealed: 2016 List by OpenTable

With family coming in for the holidays, why not take them out for a nice steak?

NEW YORK, NY — As we head into the holiday season and you're looking to dine on some of the best steak-centric meals around the city, OpenTable's newest Top 100 list has you covered. The online restaurant reservations site revealed this week the The 100 Best Steakhouses in America 2016.

Eleven locations from New York City made the annual list this year. There's a distinctive flavor from Midtown — nine of the 11 spots have a Midtown location — and none come from the outer boroughs. The usual favorites are here, including Delmonico's (whichever iteration this one is exactly) and Ruth's Chris.

NYC was unsurprisingly near the top of the list for the city with the most steakhouses named in the top 100, but Las Vegas claimed the No. 1 spot with 12. (Though if you count multiple locations of the same restaurant, NYC is No. 1.)

Vic and Anthony's Steakhouse also made the list, though the Gramercy location is now closed. They still have restaurants elsewhere in the country, including one in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The winners were chosen from a pool of some 20,000 eateries across the nation, based on the combined the opinions of more than 5 million reviews, according to the company. OpenTable only used reviews that were left between Oct. 1, 2015 and Sept. 30 of this year.

"All restaurants in the 'steak' cuisine category with a minimum 'overall' score and number of qualifying reviews were included for consideration," OpenTable says of its methodology. "Qualifying restaurants were then scored and sorted according to their overall food rating."
