New York Comic Con Tickets Sold Out in Less Than an Hour

Fans complained about the new online system used to sell tickets.

Three-day and four-day tickets to New York Comic Con 2016 went on sale online this afternoon and sold out in less than an hour, to the chagrin of many fans, many who were in the online "queue" system for more than an hour and unable to purchase any tickets.

This year's Comic Con is scheduled for Oct. 6 to Oct. 9 at the Javits Convention Center on 35th Street and 11th Avenue. There's a new system for buying tickets this year, which required fans to register for "fan verification" between May 20 and June 13 to purchase tickets.

New York Comic Con said the new extra step was for "making it tough for the supervillains out there," or tickets scalpers, to make money off NYCC tickets. But scalpers still managed to list tickets on Stubhub Wednesday afternoon — a four-day ticket was listed on StubHub as $490. And dozens of fans said they registered for fan verification and were still unable to purchase their tickets online after waiting in the queue.
