New York Tabloids Run Nearly Identical Covers For Trump Inauguration Day
See some other instances when the New York Daily News and New York Post ran similar front pages.
NEW YORK CITY — Ink-and-paper lovers could be forgiven if they were briefly confused Friday morning when they picked up the New York Daily News and New York Post.
NYC's iconic tabloids had nearly identical covers for Donald Trump's inauguration, showing the 45th president and his wife, Melania, standing in front of the Lincoln Memorial with he headline "DON OF A NEW DAY."

While the headlines are identical, the Daily News' photo has Abe Lincoln's statue centered, and Trump's hands closer together. Trump's skin also looks a lot more orange than it does in the Post, which shows Trump's hands farther apart and Melania looking the other way.
While it may seem like an improbable coincidence, this is hardly the first time the Post and the Daily News have run very similar front pages.
For example, after video surfaced of Solange Knowles berating her brother-in-law Jay-Z, both papers went with the headline "CRAY-Z!"
When an escaped New York prisoner was captured, the tabloids' fronts both said "BLOOD SWEAT AND CHEERS."
The day after two climbers scaled the walls of The New York Times building, their covers said "NEW YORK CLIMBS" in the font of the Times' flag.
And when the Yankees won the 2009 world series, the papers went with "27TH HEAVEN." Then again, so did Newsweek and ESPN.com.
