New Yorkers Are Getting Fatter And Tireder, City Says

A study showed nearly a third of New York City residents are considered obese.

NEW YORK, NY – New Yorkers are getting fatter and tireder, according to a new study published by the city's health department.

Over 10 years, the rate of obesity shot up from 27.5 percent to 32.4 percent in the city, according to the research carried out by the city and NYU's School of Medicine.

That means that almost a third of New Yorkers are now considered obese.

The study used a survey submitted to 1,500 people which looked at weight, diabetes, depression, mercury levels, sleep patterns and risk factors for heart problems.

The study blamed the increase in weight on unhealthy eating choices and lack of exercise.

It also show that 42 percent of New Yorkers reported having sleep problems.
