Yes, NYC's 2023-24 School Calendar Is Late
"We are BEGGING you for the NYC school calendar, so we can plan our lives, and not live in chaos," one parent wrote nearly two weeks ago.

NEW YORK CITY — Let's get this out of the way, New York City parents — no, the 2023-24 school calendar isn't out yet.
And, yes, it's almost June. (Or actually is as you read this.)
The delay by New York City education officials has left parents and caregivers in limbo, unable to say for certain even when next school will begin.

Last year, school officials released the calendar May 31.
But Wednesday — exactly a year later — there was little sign of when the next one would be released.
When asked about the new calendar's release, a Department of Education spokesperson had little to offer a Patch reporter other than, "will give an update when I have one."
The delay has been met by a mix of frustration and humor.
"I’m just an NYC public school parent, standing in front of the June calendar, asking the DOE if it’s ever going to release the 2023-24 school year calendar," one parent tweeted.
"At this point, after Labor Day we’re going to have to start calling the night before to find out if school starts the next day. Like jury duty," another replied.
