- The MTA has not yet provided training to its employees about how to use so-called emergency escape hoods for use "during nuclear, biological or chemical events only," THE CITY has learned. The state began an inquiry into the transit agency's emergency protection program following a worker's death nearly three years ago when a 2 train was set on fire. (THE CITY)
- Thousands of nurses at Mount Sinai and Montefiore private hospitals remained prepared to go on strike today, as last minute negotiations took place on Sunday. A deal had still not been reached at Mount Saini's main campus. Governor Kathy Hochul and her staff have been participating in conversations, according to a source. (NBC New York)
- High school girls from New York City's public schools are being excluded from a statewide wrestling invitational tournament to take place in three weeks, sparking outrage from student athletes and coaches given that boys have long been allowed to attend a similar event. Girls in the city compete in a different league from the rest of the state. (Subscription/New York Daily News)
- The Staten Island ferry that caught on fire in December, stranding roughly 850 passengers, occurred on the Sandy Ground, one of the fleet's newest ships that began service last year, sparking concerns from City Council Members that it could be an indication of "systematic flaws." They are calling for a Department of Transportation investigation. (Gothamist)
- The MTA is opening nine bathrooms in subway stations today, including at least one in every borough except Staten Island. They've received new paint jobs and lighting and will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (AMNY)
