Jose Serrano Wins Reelection In NY 29th Senate District Race

NEW YORK CITY — State Senator Jose Serrano has won reelection in New York's 29th Senate District race, defeating Republican challenger Tanya Carmichael.

With 97 percent of votes counted, Serrano amassed 57818 votes (81.71%) compared to Carmichael's 12958 votes (18.27%), according to the city's board of elections.

The 29th Senate District encompasses East Harlem and parts of the Bronx.

Serrano previously represented District 28 in the New York State Senate from 2005 to 2013. In 2022, Serrano won an uncontested race for District 29.
