NYC 9/11 Memorial 5K Run: Street Closures, Time, Route
The 9/11 Memorial & Museum 5K Run/Walk will take place on Sunday in Lower Manhattan. Here's what to know about the annual event.
NEW YORK CITY, NY — For the tenth year in a row, the 9/11 Memorial 5K Run/Walk will take place on Sunday in Lower Manhattan.
This year's 5K is taking place to "remember all those killed over 20 years ago and honor the heroes who put their own lives at risk to save others."
The event will begin at 8 a.m. at Brookfield Place and take participants through Baterry Park along the waterfront esplanade, before finishing on Greenwich Street at the 9/11 Memorial Plaza.

More specifically, the route will go along the following path.
- Battery Park City Greenway
- Greenwich Street between Battery Place and Morris Street
- Trinity Place between Morris Street and Edgar Street
- Edgar Street between Trinity Place and Greenwich Street
- Greenwich Street between Edgar Street and Liberty Street
- River Terrace between Murray Street and Chambers Street
- Chambers Street between River Terrace and West Street
- Battery Place between Little West and Greenwich Street
- South End Avenue between Liberty Street and Albany Street
The NYPD says street closures will be at the discretion of police, so don't be surprised if all the above roads are closed off Sunday morning.

All of the funds raised on the day will go to supporting education programming for young people to learn more about the history of the Sept. 11 attacks.
