NYC Beaches Will Remain Closed Tuesday Due To Rip Currents

Brooklyn and Queens beaches will be closed to the public, with swimming being prohibited. Lifeguards will remain on duty​.

NEW YORK CITY — New York City beaches will be closed for a fourth day Tuesday due to dangerous rip currents from remnants of Hurricane Ernesto.

Brooklyn and Queens beaches will be closed to the public, with swimming being prohibited. Lifeguards will be on duty Tuesday, according to officials.

A beach closure is in effect for all Brooklyn beaches, Rockaway beaches and Riis Beach,” a Notify NYC alert said.

The National Weather Service also issued a rip current advisory warning of a high rip current risk at city beaches through Tuesday evening.

The rip current advisory is expected to expire overnight into Wednesday.
