NEW YORK CITY — The long wait for next year's New York City school calendar is finally over.

City education officials released the 2023-24 calendar Friday afternoon after weeks of parental frustration. The calendar for the current, soon-to-end school year was released May 31 — and even that was a delay from when it typically went out.

Indeed, a spokesperson for the Department of Education acknowledged the growing clamor.

The first day of school in the fall will be Sept. 7, according to the calendar.

Another important note is that the two-day Rosh Hashanah holiday is not on the calendar, as it falls on a weekend.

Spring recess will be April 22 to 26 next year, according to the calendar.
