NYC Halloween Dog Parade Rescued After Pet Lovers Howl
Tompkins Square Park is once again going to the (costumed) dogs.
NEW YORK CITY — Hot dog! New York City's premier Halloween pup parade has been rescued from the cancellation pound.
The Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade will return Oct. 21 for all city pet lovers who want to dress up their pooches, organizers said.
The paw-sitive news is a tail wag away from last week, when organizers said permitting hassles with the city forced them to cancel what would have been the 33rd annual parade.

But a howl of protest from dog lovers prompted city officials to clear up hurdles that leashed the parade. The event now also has a sponsor in Get Joy, a dog wellness company, organizers said.
"It's basically the Met Gala for the Canine Community," said Fern Watt, a dog author and spokesperson for the Tompkins Square Dog Run. "We've been overcome by the amazing display of support from our community, so call the pup-arazzi: the show will go on!"

The doggone-no-more event will run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and will include an actual parade route this year as opposed to solely being inside the park, the New York Times reported.
And if they need some canine costume inspiration, here are some doggy highlights from past years.
