NEW YORK CITY — Severe thunderstorms could bring brutal winds and flash flooding to New York City Wednesday afternoon, forecasters predicted.
The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook Wednesday morning for the heavy storm expected to slam New York sometime after 3 p.m.
The downpour could dump up to an inch of rain on the city and winds could reach up to 8 mph, forecasters said.

Temperatures are expected to reach 88 degrees but things may cool down slightly after the storm, with a high of 85 predicted for Thursday and of 83 degrees for Friday and Saturday.
The warning follows a hazardous heat advisory in New York City which the National Weather Service issued Tuesday, when temperatures climbed to 95 degrees.
