NYC Labor Day 2019 Weekend Subway Service Changes
The MTA is planning special commuter rail and city transit service for the Labor Day weekend.

NEW YORK, NY — The summer season is coming to an end, and many New Yorkers will celebrate by fleeing the city to spend Labor Day Weekend at suburban beaches. The MTA is planning accordingly by adjusting commuter rail service in addition to its usual weekend transit changes.
The MTA will add "getaway train" service on its commuter rail lines such as the Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad on Friday and will beef up return service on Monday. If you wait until Saturday or Sunday to leave the city, expect to deal with the usual weekend service.
There's also good news for drivers. MTA Bridges and Tunnels will suspend scheduled maintenance work starting at 1 p.m. on Friday until the end of the morning rush hour on Tuesday due to an expected increase in congestion on the roads.
