Officials previously said all new numbers will be assigned the new area code once all the numbers using the 347, 718, 917 and 929 areas codes are taken.
The New York State Public Service Commission approved an all-services area code overlay for the city in January, Patch previously reported.

The four area codes are expected to be exhausted by the end of 2026, according to the report.
465 will be the city's eighth area code. The most recent addition came in 2011, when 929 was implemented.
The new area code is expected to last for around 11 years, officials said.
“With increased telephone usage, we must accommodate the growing demand for phone numbers,” Commission Chair Rory M. Christian said in a statement. “The new area code will ensure that there are enough phone numbers available for New Yorkers.”
