NYC Subway Delays, Changes For The June 29 Commute

Here's how your commute will (or won't) get messed up.

NEW YORK, NY — Several New York City subway lines were delayed or had service changes during the Thursday morning commute.

The R and W 8th Street southbound entrance remained closed following a massive fire in lower Manhattan on Wednesday night that took over 200 firefighters to fight.

Due to signal problems at DeKalb Avenue, southbound B Subway and D Subway trains are running with delays. Investigators were on the scene.

J and Z Broad Street-bound trains were also running local from Broadway Junction to Marcy Avenue because of planned work on those lines. Commuters were also told to expect crowding on platforms and trains during rush hours on the 42nd street shuttle.

Otherwise, the MTA's subway status box was all green as of about 7:30 a.m.

Long Island Railroad was a different story. A "track condition" near the East River Tunnels was causing delays into the city on every LIRR train this morning.

NYC Transit is cross-honoring LIRR tickets on the E subway at Jamaica, Kew Gardens and Forest Hills; at Atlantic Terminal on the 2/3 subway; and on the 7 subway at Woodside and Hunterspoint Avenue. Click here for more information on that.

Amtrak is on the scene.

And things can change in an instant on the subways. Patch will be updating this post throughout the morning with the latest commuting information to help you get to work on time (or at least try to).
