NYC Subway Delays: Manhattan Bridge Smoke Reroutes Trains

An FDNY investigation messed up some morning commutes.

NEW YORK — A debris fire on the Manhattan Bridge rerouted trains on two subway lines Thursday morning. Northbound N and Q trains ran local along the R line between DeKalb Avenue and Canal Street as the FDNY investigated smoke on the bridge, the MTA said.

Normal service had resumed as of 9:08 a.m. after the Fire Department put out the fire, the MTA said, though the agency still warned of delays.

A Q train was emptied out at DeKalb Avenue amid the ordeal, crowding the platform there with hundreds of riders, according to tweets from straphangers.
