NYC Subway Delays: Multiple Lines See Slowdowns During Rush Hour
Debris on tracks, mechanical problems and cars in need of cleaning caused delays for straphangers Tuesday morning, according to the MTA.

NEW YORK CITY — Many straphangers had a slow start to their Tuesday as slowdowns hit multiple subway lines, according to the MTA.
An assortment of small issues — from debris on tracks to mechanical problems to cars in need of cleaning — caused the delays, MTA posts state.
Southbound 1 trains were delayed because a car in need of cleaning was removed from service at 215th Street, the MTA posted at 8:20 a.m.

A trains headed south ran with delays after MTA crews removed debris from the tracks at 175th Street, according to an 8:17 a.m. post.
Crew shortages caused some delays for R trains, the MTA posted at 7:30 a.m.

"We're running as much service as we can with the train crews we have available," the post stated.
Switch repairs caused E and F trains to run at slower speeds along Queens Boulevard, according to the MTA. The repairs at the Forest Hills-71st Avenue station could last until Sept. 5, meaning passengers can expect longer wait times until then.
Flushing-bound 7 trains ran at slower speeds near Queensboro Plaza as crews worked on a signal problem near the station, the MTA posted at 8:19 a.m.
J trains didn't run between Chambers Street and Broad Street because of debris that crews found on the track at Fulton Street while they dealt with a mechanical issue, according to an 8 a.m. post.
Likewise, an NYPD investigation at Broad Street prompted an earlier delay on the J train, according to a 6:58 a.m. post.
