NYC Subway Delays: Service Restored to W. 4th St., Several Lines Still Having Problems

The 4/5/6, B/D/F/M, A/C/E, G, 7 and N/Q/R/W lines were all experiencing delays on a packed Monday morning commute.

NEW YORK CITY, NY — New York commuters were furious Monday, hurling expletives on Twitter, as almost every subway line experienced delays during the morning commute. Delays were due to signal problems, a water condition, a man found dead on the tracks and a rail condition, the MTA said.

Allow for additional travel time on the 4 and 5 trains in both directions, the 7 train in both directions, the southbound A train, the E, F, and M trains in both directions, the G train in both directions and the N and R trains in both directions.

Service on the F, E, and M lines was resumed with delays at 10:45 a.m. after a water condition at the West Fourth Street-Washington Square station caused the F and M lines to run on the E line. The cause of the water on the tracks was frozen drain pipes, so they had to shut down power at the station, an MTA spokesperson said. Now all lines are up and running with delays.

Due to an "earlier incident" at 59th Street in Brooklyn, the N and R trains have resumed service with delays in both directions, according to the MTA.

On Sunday afternoon, commuters found a man dead on the 59th Street and 4th Avenue northbound R platform at Fourth Avenue at 12:45 p.m., the NYPD said. Emergency responders took him to Lutheran Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His body did not show any signs of trauma, the cops said.

Authorities had not released the name of the man by Monday morning.

Signal problems caused delays of the 7 train, and rail conditions caused delays of the A train, the MTA said. A G train at Court Square with mechanical problems caused delays in the G train between 6:45 a.m. and 7:40 a.m.

Be advised, if you take the F or M trains, they will be running on the E line this morning.
