NEW YORK, NY — Straphangers were hit with delays and rerouted trains on seven different subway lines on Wednesday morning.

Northbound A and C trains were running with delays after transit officials removed a train with mechanical problems near Jay Street-MetroTech station in Brooklyn.

In Manhattan, train problems also caused disruptions on the 2 and 3 lines. Both trains were running on a local track from Penn Station to 14th Street after a train's brakes were activated.

Straphangers found delays in both directions on the 1 train after a switch problem at Van Cortlandt Park-242 Street station.

Planned maintenance also brought changes to the 4 and 5 trains.

The 4 train will be rerouted to stop at 138th Street-Grand Concourse during morning rush hour the entire week, while the 5 train will have limited downtown service on the East Side.

Both planned changes are due to accessibility projects on the subway lines.
