NYC Subway Delays: W Trains Halted, 5 Other Lines Slowed
Monday's commuting woes continued into the late morning.

NEW YORK — Rush-hour subway woes stretched into the late morning as W trains were halted and five other lines were delayed for various reasons. A signal problem at Times Square-42nd Street — the busiest station in the city — suspended W service and was among the factors delaying N, Q and R trains, the MTA said.
The latter three lines were also roiled by another signal problem at Whitehall Street and a person needing medical help at 36th Avenue, the transit agency said.
The 2 and 5 lines were also running with delays in Brooklyn because of an unauthorized person on the tracks at Newkirk Avenue, according to the MTA.

B, D, F and M trains were also messed up earlier Monday morning by a switch problem at 42nd Street-Bryant Park, New York City Transit alerts show.
Straphangers complained of especially long commutes, with some saying they gave up on the trains altogether.

"Walking on the tracks may be the fastest way to get to work given the trains are stalled everywhere," Michael Rockwitz wrote on Twitter. "Shame on the MTA. Raising fares for this incompetence and garbage service."
