NYC Weather: Big Freeze To Come After Heavy Rain

More than an inch of rain is expected Tuesday before the mercury takes a nosedive Wednesday.

NEW YORK — Warm and dry is just too much to ask. More rain is expected to drench New York City before unseasonably frigid temperatures take hold midweek, with the mercury possibly dipping below freezing Wednesday night, the National Weather Service says.

A sunny and brisk Monday with a high near 49 degrees is expected before the first chance of rain looms in the evening, according to the weather service's forecast.

The showers are expected to continue overnight and into Tuesday afternoon, with more than an inch of rain set to drench Central Park by 1 p.m. that day, the forecast shows. The soak will follow Friday's nasty rainfall amid a flash flood watch for the area.
