The remnants of tropical depression Barry will bring heavy rain to New York City, with possible flash flooding and damaging winds.

NEW YORK — The remnants of tropical depression Barry will bring heavy rain to New York City on Wednesday, with possible flash flooding.
A flash flood watch is in effect starting at 2 p.m. Wednesday and lasting through the night, the National Weather Service says, warning of possible thunderstorms and damaging wind gusts.
Total rainfall could reach two inches with rain falling at a rate of an inch per hour or more, forecasters say.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Friday and Saturday, predicting that high temperatures will reach the upper 90s. The maximum heat index — which accounts for humidity — could reach 110.

A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Cloudy, with a high near 82. Northeast wind 6 to 9 mph.
