NEW YORK — Prepare for a heat wave: Dangerously high temperatures will hit New York City by the end of this week, forecasters say.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Friday and Saturday, predicting that high temperatures will reach the upper 90s. The maximum heat index — which accounts for humidity — could near 105.
