Torrential rains are expected to flood the outer boroughs.

NEW YORK — Flash floods are expected to hit Brooklyn and Queens Tuesday afternoon as torrential rains move across New York City. The two boroughs are under a flash flood warning until 5 p.m.
The National Weather Service warned heavy rainfall could flood highways, streets and underpasses just before the evening commute. The flooding is expected to impact Jamaica, Crown Heights, Flushing, Canarsie, Jackson Heights and other neighborhoods.
The Bronx and part of Westchester County were also drenched by the rain, which could continue through Wednesday.

The deluge created waterfalls in some subway stations — though there was no sign of Flood Rat, the intrepid rodent who took shelter behind a column last week.
