NYC Weather: Flash Floods Possible As Downpours Loom

The city could see another inch of rain after the weekend's heavy showers.

NEW YORK — This rain might feel like leftovers. More heavy showers could hit New York City on Monday after a wet post-Thanksgiving weekend, the National Weather Service says.

The city will be under a flash flood watch from noon Monday until 1 a.m. Tuesday as more than an inch of rain drenches Central Park, according to the weather service. Wind gusts stronger than 30 MPH are also possible Monday, the weather service says.

The rain could make for a rough evening commute as the heaviest showers are expected to fall late in the afternoon into the evening, the weather service says.

The wet weather comes after more than an inch and a half of rain soaked Central Park from late Saturday night into early Sunday morning, according to the weather service.

Monday will see a mild high temperature near 52 degrees before cooler highs in the 40s take over for the rest of the work week, the weather service says. The city should dry up until Friday night, when there's a 30 percent chance of showers in the forecast.
