NYC Weather: Florence Remnants To Drench New York
Heavy rains from the storm could cause flash flooding Monday night into Tuesday.

NEW YORK — The remnants of Tropical Depression Florence will soak New York City with heavy rain and possibly flash flooding early this week, the National Weather Service warns.
Florence has killed 14 people and flooded North Carolina with record-breaking rainfall. The storm made landfall on Friday as a Category 1 hurricane but was reportedly downgraded to a tropical depression on Sunday.
What remains of the storm could drop up to 1.5 inches of rain across the New York City region when it arrives late Monday into Tuesday, the National Weather Service warns. Higher amounts of rain are possible in certain areas, as is a low chance of "localized flash flooding," the weather service says.

The first showers could start in Central Park around 6 p.m. Monday and continue through late Tuesday night, the weather service predicts. Thunder may also strike during the day on Tuesday, when a high temperature near 79 is expected.
Clear skies will return on Wednesday once the storm moves out of the area, the forecast shows. Sunshine and temperatures ranging from the mid-70s to low 80s are expected for the rest of the week.
