NYC Weather Forecast: 'Heat Alert' Extended; Hour-By-Hour Forecast For Friday
Friday will be another hot one.

NEW YORK, NY — New York City's hot, muggy nightmare will continue on Friday, forecasters say. The National Weather Service's "heat alert" has been extended through Friday evening, and temperatures could reach 95, with humidity making it feel even worse.
It's the third straight day of temperatures in the mid-90s, making this the hottest stretch of what has so far been a fairly mild summer. Saturday is expected to be another hot one before some rain and possible thunderstorms bring some relief that night and into Sunday.
The city will have cooling centers open during the day, which are located in places such as libraries, NYCHA facilities and senior centers. Click here to find one near you. "The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure," the National Weather Service says. "Extreme heat can cause illness and death among the at-risk population who can not
stay cool."
The heat advisory lasts until 6 p.m. Friday night.

"Seniors and those with chronic health problems or mental health conditions are at increased risk. Homes without air conditioning can be much hotter than outdoors," the service said.
"Use air conditioning to stay cool at home, or go to a place that has air conditioning. Check on vulnerable friends, family members and neighbors.
"To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! In cases of heat stroke call 9 1 1."
