NYC Weather Forecast: More 100-Degree Heat As Hot Streak Goes On

The heat wave is expected to continue through Thursday.

NEW YORK, NY — The sweaty weather isn't going away any time soon. It could feel as hot as about 100 degrees in New York City on Monday as a heat wave continues through much of this week, the National Weather Service says.

A high temperature near 96 degrees and heat index values near 99 are expected to hit Central Park on Monday, the weather service says. AccuWeather's RealFeel says it could feel like a sweltering 110 degrees in the early afternoon.

The five boroughs will be under a heat advisory until 9 p.m. an air quality alert until 11 p.m. Monday. Officials recommend limiting strenuous activity and warn that young kids and people with conditions such as asthma and heart disease will be particularly vulnerable.

Monday marks the third straight day with temperatures above 90 degrees, according to National Weather Service figures. The heat index hit a scorching 102 in Central Park on Sunday afternoon.

The heat wave will continue past the Independence Day holiday, as high temperatures in the low 90s are expected through Thursday. Central Park could feel has hot as 98 degrees on Tuesday, according to the weather service.
