NYC Weather Forecast: Snow, Extreme Cold For New Year's Weekend
Snow started falling Saturday.
NEW YORK, NY — Winter won't let up going into 2018. An inch of snow is expected to fall on Saturday before temperatures drop into the teens for New Year's Eve, according to the latest National Weather Service forecast.
The high temperature Saturday will hit 27 degrees, but wind will make it feel as cold as 5 degrees.
Things will get worse on Sunday — the high is expected to reach just 20 degrees, setting up a freezing-cold New Year's Eve celebration with possible sub-zero wind chills, the weather service says. That will continue into Monday, when temperatures will only get as high as 18 degrees.

"Wind chills could also fall to near or just below zero both Sunday night and Monday night of next week as this prolonged cold spell continues," the weather service said in a statement Friday.
Alternate-side parking rules will be suspended Saturday to accommodate snow removal, the city Department of Transportation said.

Make sure to bundle up in plenty of layers if you're going out to ring in the new year this weekend. Dressing warm is key to avoiding frostbite and hypothermia, the weather service says.
