NYC Weather Forecast: Heavy Snow Could Follow Deep Freeze
Up to six inches could hit the ground Wednesday night.

NEW YORK, NY — New York City's cold snap continues for New Year's Day with little relief likely any time soon, according to the National Weather Service's latest forecast. It will get a bit warmer on Wednesday — just in time for up to six inches of snow to hit the ground.
Monday will be bitterly cold, with an expected high of 19 degrees and consistent wind chills making it feel as cold as -10 degrees, the weather service says.
After rising into the mid- to high 20s through the middle of the week, temperatures will plummet on Friday, when there's a predicted high of just 12 degrees along with "blustery" winds, according to the weather service.

"Wind chills of 5 to 10 degrees below zero are expected this morning, and near 0 tonight into Tuesday morning as this prolonged cold spell continues," the weather service said in a statement Monday. "Be sure to dress appropriately when going outside to avoid frostbite and hypothermia."
Snow could start falling Wednesday night into Thursday morning as a low-pressure system moves east of the New York City area, the weather service says.
