NYC Weather Forecast: Steamy Temps Ahead Of Storms

The mercury is expected to hit 90 degrees again on Tuesday.

NEW YORK, NY — It's going to get hot again. Steamy temperatures will return to New York City before thunderstorms strike this week, according to the latest National Weather Service forecast.

Monday will bring a high near 87 degrees with sunny skies and breezes, the forecast shows.

The five boroughs will be under an air quality health advisory from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. because of high ozone levels. Officials recommend limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity.

The mercury is expected to hit a high near 90 on Tuesday before wet weather arrives that evening.

Rain and thunder are most likely to hit from 6 to 11 p.m. Tuesday, the forecast says, though a chance of storms will linger through Wednesday afternoon.

The rest of the week will bring sunshine and high temperatures in the mid-80s, the weather service says.

A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Sunny, with a high near 90. West wind 6 to 10 mph.

Tuesday Night
A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 7pm and 1am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. West wind 6 to 9 mph becoming north after midnight.

Wednesday
A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. North wind around 9 mph.
