Tornadoes Possible Wednesday As Severe Storms Head To NYC
Counties in New York, Connecticut and New Jersey are facing a risk of severe thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon.
NEW YORK, NY — New York City could be in for some rough weather on Wednesday as storms and even an isolated tornado could hit the area, according to the National Weather Service.
Several counties in New York, northeast New Jersey and southern Connecticut will experience a risk of severe thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon, the National Weather Service predicts.
"The main threat with any thunderstorms today will be strong, damaging winds and hail. An isolated tornado can not be ruled out," the weather service's hazardous weather outlook from Wednesday morning reads.

New Yorkers should be prepared for a 50/50 chance that thunderstorms will hit the city sometime around 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service forecast. There's also a 30% chance that a second round of storms could hit the city before midnight until 3 a.m. Thursday. Winds could reach as high as 15 miles per hour during the day and nine miles per hour during the night.
Flooding was not predicted for the New York City area on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Despite the chance of thunderstorms, temperatures will still be hot on Wednesday. The National Weather service predicts a high temperature of 83 degrees to hit the city at about 4 p.m. The low temperature is an estimated 64 degrees for Wednesday night.
Here's the National Weather Service's forecast for the rest of the week:
Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high temperature near 76 degrees. Winds of 6 to 9 miles per hour.
Thursday Night: A 20% chance of rain after 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low temperature around 63 degrees. Wind of 6 to 14 miles per hour.
Friday: A 40% chance of rain, mainly after 8 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 72 degrees. Breezy, with a northeast wind 21 to 24 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 37 miles per hour.
Friday Night: A 50% chance of rain before 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60 degrees. Breezy.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 77 degrees.
Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low of about 65 degrees.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 73 degrees.
Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 60 degrees.
