NYC Weather Forecast: Storms Possible Over Hot Weekend

NEW YORK, NY — Steamy temperatures and possible thunderstorms could make for a hot, wet summer weekend in New York City, the latest National Weather Service forecast shows. The mercury will hit a high near 90 degrees Saturday before a chance of storms rolls in that evening, the weather service says.

Friday will be slightly cooler, with sunny skies, light winds and a high near 87, the forecast shows. Things will get warmer and more humid over the weekend, while an approaching cold front will "allow for a chance of showers and thunderstorms" Saturday night, the weather service says.

Saturday will be mostly sunny, but a chance of storms will start to loom around 8 p.m., the forecast shows. Rain and thunder will be possible into Sunday, when there's an expected high near 88, according to the forecast.

Sunshine will return Monday before more likely thunderstorms strike on Tuesday, the forecast shows.
