NYC Weather: Freezing Cold Thanksgiving On The Way

The high temperature for Thanksgiving Day is expected to be more than 20 degrees below normal.

NEW YORK — Better bundle up for the Macy's parade — New York City will see temperatures dip far below normal on a freezing cold Thanksgiving Day, the National Weather Service says.

Despite expected sunshine, Thursday will bring a high near just 28 degrees — about 24 degrees colder than that day's normal high of 52, according to the weather service. Any eager Black Friday shoppers should also wear plenty of layers, as a bitterly cold low around 18 degrees is expected Thursday night, the weather service says.

The unusually frigid weather will follow a chilly and potentially wet start to the week. Rain could strike Monday night following a roughly normal high near 51, with showers remaining possible into Tuesday morning, the weather service's forecast shows.

Highs in the low to mid-40s are expected Tuesday and Wednesday before the deep chill hits, the forecast says. Skies will be largely clear until a chance of rain returns Saturday, according to the weather service.
