NYC Weather: Frigid Temperatures To Stick Around For Weekend

The mercury won't reach into the 40s again until early next week.

NEW YORK — Better bundle up for brunch. Unusually chilly temperatures will keep hold of New York City over the weekend, with a cold front shoring up the frigid weather, the National Weather Service says.

Sunshine and highs in the mid- to upper 30s are expected from Friday to Sunday, well below the normal levels in then mid-40s for this time of year, according to the weather service. The mercury isn't expected to reach into the 40s until Monday.

Friday will bring a high near 37 and wind chills feeling like 25 to 30 degrees, the weather service says. An even deeper chill will come Saturday, with a high near 35 and wind chills between 15 and 25 degrees, the forecast says. The mercury is expected to hit a slightly warmer high near 38 on Sunday.

Fair weather is forecast well into next week. Dry air will stop a snow and ice storm set to batter parts of the South from moving into the Northeast, according to AccuWeather.
